Medicare is now covering up to eight over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for each calendar month, at no cost to the patients.  Medicare is covering these tests if the patient has Part B, including those enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan who are covered outside the existing plan’s coverage.

Patients do not have to pay if the patient uses an eligible pharmacy or health care provider that participates in this initiative. 

Medicare is not covering over-the-counter COVID-19 tests if the patient has Medicare Part A or Hospital Insurance coverage.
